Building skills, confidence, and pathways to employment for urban youth.
Timeline: 2012 – 2016 | Location: Koti & Kukatpally, Hyderabad
Context:
Rapid urbanisation and rising unemployment have created a widening gap between the aspirations of young people and access to meaningful employment opportunities. Many youth from disadvantaged backgrounds are unable to complete higher education or lack the work experience required by employers, limiting their ability to enter the formal workforce.
Project Approach:
The Tech M SMART Center project focused on strengthening employability among urban youth through vocational training, skill development, and career support. Drawing from Yugantar’s earlier work with migrant and local communities, the programme prioritised practical skills, confidence-building, and long-term livelihood opportunities.
Creating Pathways to Employment:
Key Learnings:
Why We Think This Matters: Employment is closely linked to dignity, stability, and social mobility. The project worked to bridge the gap between aspiration and opportunity by equipping urban youth with practical skills and pathways into the workforce.
